Hope this note finds you well and in something long-sleeved. Autumn is officially here and I’m all in, per our usual agreement. I seem to love it more each year. The seasons’ changes are a magic that will never cease to capture my affections, and each has its charm. Sometimes we accuse them of being early or late, (save Spring, which always seems to be fashionably late) but when they get here they bring some kind of relief. It speaks to our primitive self. While we’re adding to and crossing off the calendars, tweaking budgets, and measuring and optimizing ourselves out of existence, the world turns and tips and occasionally speaks up to say, “Hey, check this out. You ever seen something so pretty, so powerful, so inevitable?” I’m thankful for that.
There’s a deep part of us that pushes itself to the front to see a beautiful sunrise, or a baby’s smile, or the inferno of color in an especially vibrant Autumn. It’s a good reminder to declutter ourselves, tell the intellect to “keep up the good work, but stay in your lane,” and let the heart have its imagination back. Both hemispheres of our brain are the same size right? Maybe the left side should take five more often than we tell it to. It might just let us find the joy that seems so elusive to so many.
In honor of the falling leaves, I have four new pipes on the site.

This group of pipes celebrates the most beautiful part of the season: the changing colors of the trees. Each piece in this fall foliage edition of the Ohio Arbor Collection draws inspiration from a native tree and the distinctive colors it brings to the woods each fall.
Shagbark Hickory pairs a paneled form with a yellow stem inspired by the tree’s bright golden foliage.
Beech takes its cue from golden-brown and burnished bronze leaves.
Black Gum captures the tree’s dramatic shift from golden yellow to brilliant crimson with a red bowl and yellow stem.
Sweetgum reflects the rich crimson tones of its star-shaped autumn leaves in a warm, red-toned stem.
I also want to give a big heads up for two sets to be released in early October for this year’s Halloween collection! The first pays tribute the horror and special effects mag that many of us loved growing up in the 80’s. (Can you guess?) The second batch revisits an iconic location in a favorite scary movie I payed tribute to the first time I did a Halloween collection. So watch your inbox. You don’t want to overlook this one!
So enjoy the crisp mornings and get cozy. Deal with the leaves when they fall, and till then, enjoy the show. I’ll be in touch soon!
Sincerely,
Dan
